Dear friend,
People often ask us, “what good is willpower?”
And what they’re really asking, whether they say it out loud or not, is “how can willpower make me money?”
The answer is simple.
Because everyone knows that you can make more money by taking more concerted action in the marketplace, it follows that the stronger your Power of Will the more action you take.
And the more action you take with your Power of Will, the more likely you are to actually make more money.
And because entrepreneurs are by definition stepping out of the normal roles of society it also follows that they need more Power of Will.
And entrepreneurs can develop their power of will the same way everyone else does – first by thinking about the will, settling on a course of action that is resolute – and then following through with that action.
And because entrepreneurs are focused on the marketplace, that action – their will power in motion – is focused on the making of more money.
Not by wishing for it. Not by reaching up and plucking it from trees.
But from focusing on first developing their Power of Will, turning it into a plan, and executing that plan.
It really is that simple.
And again, you can develop your Power of Will simply by first deciding to start thinking about your Will.
By taking a few moments every day to acknowledge that you have a Will.
Then by thinking about what you want to do with your Will.
Then by resolving to use your Will to achieve your aim.
Then by taking that action. Over and over again.
And it is true that people who follow this program of Will development may one day appear to others as if they do indeed pull money down from trees.
But the people who have developed their Will – and the plans and actions to go along with it – are content to let others think what they want.
They are usually too busy working on the next plan of action – driven by their Will – to notice distractions that keep other from ever getting started.
